Orchestrated by Peter Coroneos, who led the Internet Industry Association from 1997 to 2011 as Chief Executive, the 30iGala event will see hundreds of industry leaders, executives and policy makers in attendance, as there is a history here that must be remembered, and a challenge for the future of the Internet as open and free.
Set to start at 7pm, the event will feature a welcome address by Peter, a Ministerial address by The Hon. Paul Fletcher, MP, Federal Minister for Communications, a Panel Discussion that will examine what we have learned, and explore what the future will bring, followed by an after dinner announcement, a toast to remember the Internet pioneers, fallen heroes and the volunteers, along with a "World First" demonstration and prize draw.
Besides Peter and then Paul Fletcher's talks, the panel will discussion will include five distinguished speakers.

In iTWire's article from October 17 entitled: "30iGala: 2 weeks to go and event oversubscribed - waitlisting now available, plus Aidan Tudehope interview", Peter proudly yet graciously noted: "The amount of support this event has received has exceeded all expectations. We achieved a full house in record time.
"I’m very grateful to the industry leaders, the pioneers and the volunteers who have thrown their weight behind the need to mark this significant occasion in Australia’s history."
Peter continued: "It’s extremely humbling to know that what started out as an idea just three months ago has captured the imagination of so many people, many of whom who helped make the Australian internet what it is today.
"From the policy wonks, to the technocrats, the political operatives, the business disrupters and the high end users - this is a community with many different perspectives, but a common vision – to see the internet develop to its full potential as an empowering, safe, open and secure communications revolution.
"Looking over the guest list tonight, I was struck by both the diversity, but also the seniority of the figures who will be attending. It’s particularly gratifying to see so many women attending – a marked shift from the last event I ran with the IIA in 2011. Obviously Michael Kirby’s admonitions didn’t go unheeded - see the interview with Michael filmed two weeks ago here.
"As we count down to the final days, we are redoubling our efforts to make this the best event yet. For those who were a little tardy in booking, we’ve opened a waitlist on the official site and encourage you to submit a request and we’ll notify you if there are any late cancellations.
"For those who did book in time, we look forward to seeing you on 31st October", Peter concluded.
iTWire has been 30iGala's major media partner over the past couple of months, running display advertisements across the iTWire website and its twice daily newsletters consistently, as well as featuring display advertisements within Commswire, along with a regular series of articles and video interviews in the lead up to tonight's gala dinner and celebrations, a full list of which can be seen here.
iTWire will be live streaming the event via YouTube as well as filming it separately in a higher resolution that live streaming via the official YouTube app allows, and will have a full report on the event to follow.
